A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE CLOSING UP AND
ABANDONMENT OF A PORTION OF CERTAIN STREETS AND ALLEYS IN
THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, AS FOLLOWS, A PORTION OF OCEAN
AVENUE, A PORTION OF NARCISSUS AVENUE, A PORTION OF MARIGOLD
AVENUE, A PORTION OF MARGUERITE AVENUE, A PORTION OF LARK-
SPUR AVENUE, A PORTION OF JASMINE AVENUE, A PORTION OF OCEAN
BOULEVARD,.AA PORTION OF.THAT CERTAIN ALLEY ADJACENT TO LOTS
17 to 31 INCLUSIVE, OF BLOCK A -37, CORONA DEL MAR, A PORTION
OF THAT CERTAIN ALLEY ADJACENT TO LOTS 11 TO $4 INCLUSIVE,
BLOCK A -36, CORONA DEL,MAR, AND A PORTION OF THAT CERTAIN
ALLEY ADJACENT TO -LOTS 11 TO 29 INCLUSIVE, IN BLOCK A -35,
CORONA DEL MAR; DECLARING IT TO BE FOR THE PUBLIC INTER-
EST AND CONVENIENCE, AND FIXING, THE TIME AND PLACE FOR
HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT, AND
SPECIFYING THE EXTERIOR BOUNDARIES OF THE DISTRICT OF LANDS
TO BE AFFECTED OR BENEFITED BY SAID WORK OR IMPROVEMENT AND
TO BE ASSESSED TO PAY THE DAMAGES, COST AND EXPENSES THEREOF-
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach,
pursuant to the provisions of an act of Legislature of the
State of California, known as, °Street Opening Act of 18890,
approved March 6th, 1889, and amendments thereto, do resolve
and declare as follows;
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience
requires the closing up and abandonment of certain portions of
certain streets and alleys in the city of Newport Beach, and it
is the intention of the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach to order the following described portions of streets and
alleys in said City to be closed up and abandoned, to -wit;
Ocean Avenue
All that portion of Ocean Avenue, as said Ocean
Avenue is laid out and shown upon a map of Corona'Del
Mar, recorded in Book 3, pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous
Maps, Records of Orange County, California, lying north-
easterly of a line five (5) feet southwesterly of and
parallel with the center line of said Ocean Avenue, and
between the southwesterly prolongation of/the southeasterly
line of Larkspur Avenue, formerly known as 37th Avenue, as
said 37th Avenue is laid out and shown on said Map of
Corona Del Mar, and a line five (5) feet southeasterly of and
parallel with the center line of Narcissus Avenue, formerly

Narcissus Avenue.
All that portion of Narcissus Avenue, formerly
known as 40th Avenue, as said 40th Avenue is laid out
and shown upon a map of Corona Del Mar, recorded in
Book 3, pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of Orange County, California, lying northwesterly of
a line five (5) feet southeasterly of and parallel
with the center line of said Narcissus Avenue, and
between the northeasterly prolongation of the south -
westerly.line of Block A-40, as shown on said map of
Corona Del Mar, and the southeasterly prolongation
of the northeasterly_ line of said Block A -40.
Marigold Avenue.
All that portion of Marigold Avenue, formerly
known as 39th Avenue, as said 39th Avenue is laid out
and shown upon a map of Corona Del Mar, recorded in
Book 3, pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of Orange County, California, lying between the
northeasterly line of Ocean Avenue and the southwesterly
line of Ocean Boulevard, as said Ocean Avenue and Ocean
Boulevard are shown on'said map of Corona Del Mar.
Marguerite Avenue:
All that portion of Marguerite Avenue, formerly
known as Pier Avenue, as said Pier Avenue is laid out
and shown upon a map of Corona Del Mar, recorded in
Book 3, pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of Orange County, California, lying between the north-
easterly line of Ocean Avenue and the southwesterly
line of Ocean Boulevard as said Ocean Avenue and Ocean
Boulevard are shown on said map of Corona Del Mar.
Larkspur Avenue.
All that portion of Larkspur,Avenue, formerly
known as 37th Avenue, as said 37th Avenue is laid out
and shown upon a map ofOorona Del Mar, recorded in
Book 3, pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of Orange County, California, lying between the south-
westerly line of Ocean Boulevard, as said Ocean
Boulevard is laid out and shown upon said map of Corona
Del Mar, and a straight line extending from the south -
easterly corner of Lot 17, Block A =37, as shown on said
map of Corona Del Max, to the southwesterly corner of
Lot 18, Block A -38, as shown on said map of Corona Del
Mar.
Also, all that portion of said Larkspur Avenue,
formerly known as 37th Avenue and Ocean Avenue, as said
37th Avenue and Ocean Avenue are laid out and shown upon
a map of Corona Del Mar, recorded in Book 3, pages 41 and 42
of Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California,
lying southeasterly of the center line of said Larkspur
Avenue, and lying southwesterly of a straight line ex-
tending from the southeasterly corner of Lot 17., Block

Section 2.
That the exterior boundaries of the district or
lands to be affected or benefited by said work or improvement and
to be assessed to pay the damages, cost and expenses thereof, are

Beginning at a point on the southerly line of Ocean
Avenue, as said Ocean Avenue is laid out and shown upon a
map of Corona Del Mar, recorded in Book 3, pages 41 and 42,
Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California,
said point being the point of intersection of the south-
erly line of Ocean Avenue with the southerly prolongation
of the easterly line of Narcissus Avenue, formerly known
as 40th Avenue, as said Narcissus Avenue and 40th Avenue
are laid out and shown upon a map of Corona Del Mar,
recorded in Book 3., pages 41 and 42, Miscellaneous Maps,
Records of Orange County, California; running thence in a
northerly direction along the easterly line of Narcissus
Avenue to the intersection with the southerly line of
Seaview Avenue, formerly known as 51st Place, as said
Seaview Avenue and 51st place are laid out and shown upon
a map of Resubdivision of Corona Del Mar, recorded in
Book 4, page 67, Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange
County, California; running thence in a westerly direction
Along the southerly line of Seaview Avenue to an inter-
section with the westerly line of Carnation Avenue, formerly
known as 30th Avenue, as said Carnation Avenue and 30th
Avenue are laid out and shown upon a map of Resubdivision
of Corona Del Mar, recorded in Book 4, page 67, Miscellan-
eous Maps, Records of Orange County, California; running
thence in a southerly direction along the westerly line of
Carnation Avenue to an intersection with the line of
ordinary high tide of the Pacific Ocean in Newport Bay, as
described in Court Case No. 23688 of the Superior Court of
the State of California, in and for the County of Orange, a

certified copy of the Court Decree being recorded in Book
185, page 363, Official Records of said County; running
thence in a southerly and southeasterly direction along
said ordinary high tide line to an intersection with the
southerly line of Ocean Avenue; running thence in an east-
erly direction along the southerly line of Ocean Avenue
to the point of beginning.
Section 3.
That the said proposed work or improvement is for the
closing up and vacating of a portion of certain streets and
alleys hereinabove more particularly described, and it
appears to the said City Council of the city of Newport Beach,
that no assessment is necessary.
Section 4.
That the proceedings for the closing up of the
aforesaid portions of streets and alleys, shall be had and
taken under and in accordance with an act of the Legislature
of the State of California, designated and known as "An Act
to provide for laying out, openjng, extending, widening,
straightening or closing up in whole or in part any street,
square, lane, alley, court or place within municipalities, and
to condemn and acquire any and all land and property necessary
or convenient for that purpose", approved March 6th, 1889,
and amendments thereto.
Section 5,
The Street Superintendent of the City of Newport
Beach shall cause to be conspicuously posted along the line
of said contemplated work and improvement and at not more than
three hundred (300) feet in distance apart, but not less than
three (3) in all, notices of the passage of this resolution,
in the form and manner as required by law; and he shall
also cause a notice similar in substance, for a period of four
successive weeks, to be published in the 'Newport News,

a weekly newspaper published and circulated and of general
circulation in the city of Newport Beach, California, which
said newspaper is hereby designated for that purpose by the
said City Council of the City of Newport Beach, containing a
statement of the fact of the passage of this resolution of
intention, the date hereof, and briefly, describing the work
or improvement proposed and referring to this Resolution for
further particulars.
Section 6.
That any person interested, objecting to said work
or improvement or to-the extent of the district or lands to
be affected or benefited by said work or improvement, and to
be assessed to pay the cost and expenses thereof, may make
written objections to the same, within ten (10) days after the
expiration of the time of the publication of said notice
mentioned in Section 5 hereof, which objections shall be
delivered to the Clerk of the City Council, who shall endorse
thereon the date of its reception by him, and at the next
meeting of the City Council, after the expiration of said ten
(10) days;.lay said objections before said City Council who
shall fix a time for hearing said objections, not less than
one (1) week thereafter. The City Clerk shall thereupon
notil�r the persons making such objections b� depositing a notice
thereof in the Post Office of said city of Newport Beach,
postage prepaid thereon, addressed to such objector.
