RESOLUTION NO.
• 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH, FIXING THE RATE PER CENTUM AND
3 LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY
• WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE
4 THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES.

6 The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does resolve
7 and declare as follows:
8 FIRST: Resolved, that there be and is hereby levied upon
9 all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach which
10 is taxable therein for municipal purposes, a tax for the purpose of
11 raising the necessary money with which to carry on the various de-
12 partments of the City of Newport Beach for the current fiscal year
13 1946 -1947.
14 SECOND: Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax
15 hereinafter levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of One
16 Dollar Four Cents ($1.04) on each one hundred dollars of value
17 nated for each fund as follows:

For current expense fund: One Dollar ($1.00)

For the library fund: Four Cents ( .04)

Total Tax Levy: One Dollar Four Cents ($1.04).

THIRD: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
22
herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on
23
all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach, a
24
tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money
25
to pay the annual interest on all issued, outstanding, and unpaid
26
municipal bonds of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part
27
of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for

fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City, the rate
•
29
hereby levied for said purposes is fixed at Four cents (40) on
30
each One Hundred Dollars ($100) of value, and the same shall be
31
collected at the same time and in the same manner as all other
32
municipal taxes are collected, excepting upon property annexed

at an eleotion held the 11th day of February, 1924, and known as
Corona, Del Mar, provided, that the said taxes herein levied shall
be exolusive of any tax levied for the payment of interest and prin
oipal of #150,000 bonds of the City of Newport Beaoh issued and
sold for the oompletion of the munioipal water system thereof, and
$225,000 bonds for the City of Newport Beaoh issued and sold for
the oonstruotion and improvement of jetties in the City of Newport
Beaoh and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927; and $40,000 bonds of
the City of Newport Beaoh for the aoquisition, oonstruotion, and
oompletion by the City of Newport Beaoh of a oertain munioipal im-
provement, to -wit, the improvement of the munioipal harbor by
deepening and dredging the ohannel, and by the aoquisition and oon-
struotion of various groins for the purpose of oontrolling the tide
and proteoting the existing jetties and shore lands, and inoluding
for said purpose the aoquisition of lands and rights of way, whioh
said bonds are known and designated as Newport $eaoh Harbor
Improvement Bonds of 1929; and bonds in the amount of $110,000
for the aoquisition and oonstruotion of a munioipal improvement,
to -wit, additions to the munioipal sewer system inoluding the aoqui
sition of lands and rights of way, and the aoquisition and oonstruo
tion of a main sewer line and disoharge sewer lines, a sewage dis-
posal plant, sewage works, pumping plants and buildings and equip-
ment neoessary or oonvenient for said projeot, whioh said sewer
bonds are known and designated as Newport Beaoh Munioipal Sewer
Bonds of 1935; and bonds in the amount of $94,000 of the City of
Newport Beaoh, for the aoquisition and oonstruotion and reoonstruo-
tion of two (2) publio piers, inoluding the reoonstruotion and ex-
tension of the existing piers into the waters of the Paoifio Ooean,
inoluding buildings and struotures neoessary or oonvenient for said
projeot, whioh said bonds are designated and known as Pier Bonds,
1940.

FOURTH: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on all
of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach a tax for
purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay
5 the annual interest on $150,000 bonds of the City of Newport Beach,
6 issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system
7 thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid for the City of Newport
8 Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become

before the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for
said city; and for the further purpose of paying the annual interest
on $225,000 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for
the erection and construction of jetties and the improvement of said
jetties, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the City of Newport
Beach, and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927; and also such part of
the principal thereof as shall become due before the time of fixing
the next general tax levy in and for said city; and for the further
purpose of paying the annual interest of $40,000 bonds of the City
of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the improvement of the harbor
of the City of Newport Beach, and the construction of various groins
for the purpose of controlling the tide and protecting the existing
jetties and shore lands, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the City
of Newport Beach, and known as the Newport Beach Harbor Improvement
Bonds of 1929, and also such part of the principal thereof, as
shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said city; and also a tax for the purpose of raising
the necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual interest on
$110,000 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the
acquisition and construction of a municipal improvement, to -wit,
additions to the municipal sewer system including the acquisition
of lands and rights -of -way, and the acquisition and construction
of a main sewer line and discharge lines, a sewage disposal plant,
sewage works, pumping plants and buildings and equipment necessary

or convenient for said project, which said sewer bonds are known a
designated as Newport Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1936, issued,
outstanding and unpaid of the City of Newport Beach, and also such
part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time
of fixing the next general tax levy in and for said city; and also
a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money
to pay the annual interest on $94,000 bonds of the City of Newport
Beach, issued and sold for the acquisition and construction of a
municipal improvement, to -wit, the acquisition, construction and r,
construction of two (2) public piers, including the reconstruction
and extension of the existing piers into the waters of the Pacific
Ocean, including buildings and structures necessary or convenient
for said project, which said pier bonds are known and designated
as Pier Bonds, 1940, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the City
of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as
shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax
levy in and for said city.
The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of paying
the interest and principal of said water bonds, and said jetty bond ,
and said Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, and New-
port Beach Municipal Sewer Bonds of 1935,and Pier Bonds, 1940, as
aforesaid, is hereby fixed at thirty -two cents (32¢) on each One
Hundred Dollars ($100) of value.
FIFTH: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable property
within the City of Newport Beach, a tax of seven cents (7¢) on
each One Hundred Dollars ($100) for advertising purposes, pursuant
to the provisions of Ordinance No. 144 submitted to and carried by
a majority of the votes of all the voters voting at an election
held for the purpose of voting for or against said ordinance on
the 24th day of September, 1918.
SIXTH: Resolved, that 1n addition to all other taxes he
in levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property

within the City of Newport Beach a tax of three cents (3¢) on each
One Hundred Dollars ($)100) of assessed valuation, for park purposes
pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 380 of the City of New-
port Beach, submitted to and carried by a majority of the votes of
all voters voting at an election held for the purpose of voting for
or against said ordinance on May 28, 1938.
SEVENTH: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable proper-
ty within Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the City of New-
port Beach, a tax of six cents (6¢) on each one hundred dollars
($100) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi- annual interest
on and the redemption of the bonds of said district.
EIGHTH: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable proper-
ty within Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the City of New-
port Beach, a tax of Thirteen Cents (13¢) on each One Hundred
Dollars ($100) of assessed valuation, for the payment of semi-
interest on and the redemption of.the bonds of said district.
NINTH: Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes
herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable proper-
ty within Municipal Improvement District No. 7 of the City of New-
port Beach,.a tax of twelve cents (12¢) on each One Hundred Dollars
(4100) of the assessed valuation for the payment of semi -annual
interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district.
TENTH: In addition to all other taxes herein levied,
there is hereby levied upon all of the taxable property within the
City of Newport Beach a tax of twelve cents (12¢) on each One Hun-
dred Dollars ($100), said amount being sufficient to raise the
amount estimated by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
as being sufficient to raise the amount estimated by the City
Council to be required to provide sufficient revenue to meet the
obligation of the City to the Retirement System under Section 58 -c

of the "State Employees Retirement Act", Statutes of 1931, page
1442, and amendments thereto, as well as sufficient under sub-sec-
tion 5 of Section 38 -0 of the same Act, and said rate of taxation
is in addition to the annual rate of taxation allowed by law to be
levied in the City of Newport Beach.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed, adopted,
and approved by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach,
at a. regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of September,
1946, by the following vote, to -wit:
