NNSOLUTION No. ',114
WHEREAS, the Oitr of Newport Beach did, by a Contract
dated November 1, 1943, agree with D._'N. Elliott to employ the
said D.W. Elliott generally to drill and explore for oil in cer-
tain submerged land within the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the interest of the said D.V. Elliott in said

Contract has, by mesne assignments, passed to Monterey Uil Company
Wilmington Associates, Inc., and Rumble oil and Refining Company;
and
WHEREAS, said Contract contemplates the making of deci-
sions and the taking of action by the City of Newport Beach under
the various terms of said Contract; and
'AIM AS, it appears to the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach that the making of such decisions and the taking of
such action by the City Council as a whole would be unduly burdem
some on both the City of Newport Reach and the Contractor;
NOWO THMMF'ORE, BE IT REaOLVED that the City Manager of
the City of Newport Beach be, and he is hereby, authorized and
directed to act for and in behalf of the City of Newport reach in
the making of decisions and the taking of action necessary under
the administrative provisions of said Contract of November 1, 19L+
between the City of Newport Beach and D.W. Elliott.
The above and foregoing Resolution was duly and regul-
arly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Newpor
Beach, at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 27th day of duly
1953, by the following vote, to wit:

the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said
City Council held at the regular meeting place thereof, on the
