A REOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF N] !PORT B33MCH ENDORSING 'DROP M;ID SMALL CRAFT
HAR30 b AT DANA P01-NT
4 WHEFEAS, the United States Army Corps of Engineers held
5 a public hearing preliminary to making a Survey Report on the pro -
6 posed small craft harbor at Dana Point on March 6, 1959; and
7 A-M';M— 3AS, there is an urgent and constantly increasing nee
8 for additional small craft harbors of refuge for the rapidly ex-
9 panding recreational boating and fishing activities in Southern
10 California, as well as additional berthing facilities and launching
11 ramps; and
12 *rTHEREAs, Dana Point, by virtue of its location adjacent to
13 the best fishing grounds in Southern California, is ideally located
14 both as a harbor of refuge for fishing boats from other areas and as
15 a home port for sport - fishing boats, yachts and outboards; end
16 !M HEAS, the proposed harbor will contribute substantially
17 to the economic growth of the area through increased employment,
18 added property values and tax_ base, and new businesses deriving
19 income directly or indirectly from the harbor development;

21 City of Newport: Beach endorses the proposal to construct a small
22 craft harbor at Dana Point in the belief that this harbor will con -
23 tribute materially to the safe enjoyment of the recreational oppor-
24 tunities inherent in the immediate vicinity.

26 directed to forward four eopies'of this Resolution to Colonel C. T.
27 Newton, District Engineer, Los Angeles District, United States Arrali

29 This resolution was adopted by the City Council of the
30 City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting on the 9th day of March,
31 1959, by the following vote, to wit:
