A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE TERMS OF

THE EMPLOYMENT OF AN ASSESSMENT ENGINEER FOR
A CERTAIN IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

WHEREAS, the City Council on -1—uly 28 �, 1958,
6
ordered that the necessary steps be taken to prepare an improvement
7
district for the improvement of Neptune Avenue and certain other
8
streets; and
9
WHEREAS, it is necessary to employ an assessment engineer
10
in connection with the proceedings to set up an improvement dis-
11
trict for the improvement of said streets; and
12
WHEREAS, Laurence J. Thompson is willing to act in the
13
capacity of assessment engineer under the terms and conditions
14
hereinafter set forth;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Laurence J. Thompson
16
be employed as assessment engineer as follows:
17
1. The City is to furnish a complete set of diagrams
18
in triplicate necessary for a debt report and a final assess -
19
ment diagram in triplicate, together with preliminary and
20
final construction costs and incidental expenses.

2. Laurence J. Thompson, the assessment engineer, will:
22
a. Prepare and submit a debt report.
23
b. Number the diagrams and write the legal
24
descriptions.

C. Make a detailed field survey of the property
26
to be assessed and confer with the City Engineer and
27
the Street Superintendent relative to the construction
28
work and the proposed assessment.

d. Calculate the assessment and prepare the
30
assessment roll in duplicate.

e. Check the assessment roll with the attorney
32
and file same with the City Clerk.

f. Attend the hearing or hearings by the City
Council prior to the confirmation of the assessment.
g. Prepare the bonds and the Treasurer's Bond
Register, check same with the attorney, and deliver
same to the City Treasurer.
3. Compensation in the amount of two per cent (2%)
of final construction cost shall be paid to Laurence J.
Thompson, assessment engineer, for the above services. One
of said compensation shall be paid on filing the assessment
roll with the City Clerk, and one -half upon delivery of the
bonds and bond register to the City Treasurer.
This resolution was adopted by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting on the day of
March, 1959, by the following vote, to wit:

of the City of Newport Beach filed and iaaintained in my office,
the foregoing Resolution No, 4937 was duly and
regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of
said City Council held at the regular meeting place thereof, on
the 9th day of March 1 1959, by the following
vote, to wits
