RESOLUTION NO. S (o S,
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING A NEW SCHEDULE "A"
ESTABLISHING A CLASSIFICATION PLAN
• WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5429 adopted the 26th day of
June, 1961, adopted Schedule "A" dated July 1, 1961, setting forth
classes of positions, salary range numbers, biweekly rates, monthly
equivalents, and special rates; and
WHEREAS, said Schedule "A" was amended by Resolution No.
5504 adopted the 30th day of October, 1961; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended that a new
Schedule "A" entitled "CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH m POSITION CLASSES
AND SALARIES m EFFECTIVE MARCH 31, 1962 ", be adopted in lieu of
said Schedule "A" dated July 1, 1961, as amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that effective March 31,
1962, said Schedule "A" dated March 31, 1962, setting forth the
classes of positions, salary range numbers, number of positions
in each class authorized as of March.31, 1962 (the limitation on
the number of positions is established by the budget as it may
be amended), biweekly rates, monthly equivalents, and special
rates, which is attached hereto and made a part hereof by this
reference, be and the same is hereby adopted, and the classes,
salary range numbers, biweekly rates, and special rates shown
therein are hereby established; provided, however, that all in-
creases in compensation thereby provided for department head or
key personnel positions shall be effective only upon written
approval by the City Manager for each such position.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Schedules "B" and "C"
adopted by Resolution No. 5429 shall continue in effect.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the biweekly pay period
heretofore established be continued.
ADOPTED this 26th day of March, 1962.

Youth Employment Program

(1) Senior Lifeguards occupying full -time year - around positions receive one salary step increase
when assigned as summer supervisors.
(2) Police personnel assigned to two -wheel motorcycles receive additional $12.00 biweekly.
Police personnel, excluding clerical employees, assigned to Detective Bureau receive
following additional biweekly compensation: Police Officer and Policewoman, $14.40;
Police Sergeant, $16.80; Police Captain, $18.46.
(3) Off -duty employees only.
(4) Limited to Police and Lifeguard personnel occupying permanent positions.
(5) Paid $15.00 monthly for attendance at two monthly drills and emergency calls not in excess
of three hours each. Calls in excess of three hours each paid at $1.10 per hour.
(6) Limited to Police and Fire personnel assigned to work as policemen or firemen during their
off -duty hours for private employers.
(7) Compensated by City °s.provision of housing and utilities.
