RESOLUTION NO. 6068
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NMROR71 BEACH ENDORSING S. 3104, H. R. 12332, AND
H. R. 12335, AUTHORIZING INVESTIGATIONS AND REPORTS
ON THE WATER RESOURCES AND REqUIRE10ENTS OF THE
CO'LCMDO RIaR B&SIN
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach is
fully cognizant of the vital importance that an adequate and
continuing supplemental water supply be assured for the use of
Orange County and the entire Southern California area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council represents a population of
approximately 35,400 inhabitants of the City of Newport Beach,
which encompasses an area of 13.03 square miles within Orange County
which receives its principal water supply from the Colorado River
Aqueduct of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California;
and
WHEREAS, Senators Thomas H. E,uchel and Pierre Salinger
from the State of California have jointly introduced S. 3104, and
Representatives Richard T. Hanna and James B. Utt from Orange
County, California, have introduced H. R. 12335 and H. R. 12332,
respectively, both of which are practically identical with S. 3104;
and
[AREAS, these bills which are now pending before the
United States Congress if passed would assure protection of
Californiats 4.4 million acre feet per year of water from the
Colorado River and would also authorize investigations into sources
of water in the Pacific Northwest, where water is being wasted to
the ocean, for transfer to the Colorado River system to supply
water for all Colorado River Basin States;
NOW, THEI3EFOPXa, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach does hereby endorse S. 3104, H. R. 12335
and H. R. 12332 and compliments Senators I,uchel and Salinger and
Congressmen Hanna and Utt for having introduced these bills.

A
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be
sent to United States Senators Thomas H. Kuchel and Pierre Salinger
to United States Representatives Richard T. Hanna and James B. Utt;
to State Senator John A. Murdy, Jr.; to Senator James A. Cobey,
Chairman of the Senate Water Committee of the California Legislatur ;
to Assemblymen Robert E. Badham, William E. Dannemeyer and James E
Uhetmore; and to Chairman Carley V. Porter of the assembly Water
Committee.
ADOPTED this 23rd day of November , 1964.
