RESOLUTION NO. 6422
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A LOADING ZONE ON A
PORTION OF WEST COAST HIGHWAY AND REMOVING TWO
EXISTING LOADING ZONES THEREFROM

WHEREAS, Section 22506 of the Vehicle Code provides
that local authorities may by resolution restrict the parking of
vehicles on a state highway if such resolution is first submitted
to and approved in writing by the Department of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, the City has been requested to establish a
loading zone on the south side of West Coast Highway starting 256
feet west of the center line of Riverside Avenue and extending 63
feet east; and
WHEREAS, the traffic engineer has recommended that the
above described loading zone be established and that the two
existing loading zones westerly thereof as hereinafter described
be removed in order to control and facilitate traffic and the
parking of vehicles;
NOW,
, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1. That a loading zone be established on the
south side of West Coast Highway starting 256 feet west of the
center line of Riverside Avenue and extending 63 feet east.
Section 2. That the existing loading zones on the
south side of W @st Coast Highway starting 432 feet west of the
center line of Riverside Avenue and extending 22 feet east, and
starting 360 feet west of the center line of Riverside Avenue and
extending 20 feet east, be removed.
Section 3. That the traffic engineer be authorized and
directed to sign and mark the loading zone established hereby as a
loading zone as provided in Sections 3276 and 3277 of the Newport
Beach Municipal Code.
Section 4. Any provision of this resolution which
regulates traffic or delegates the regulation of traffic upon

state highways in any way for which the approval of the Department
Public Works is required by state law shall cease to be operative
six months after receipt by the City Council of written notice of
withdrawal of approval of the Department of Public Works.
Whenever this resolution delegates authority to a city
officer, or authorizes action by the City Council to regulate
traffic upon a state highway in any way which by state law requires
the prior approval of the Department of Public Works, no such
officer shall exercise such authority nor shall such action by the
City Council be effective with respect to any state highway with-
out the prior approval in writing of the Department of Public
Works when and to the extent required by the Vehicle Code.
