RESOLUTION NO. 6442
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY
ATTORNEY TO PROSECUTE CERTAIN MISDEMEANOR OFFENSES
ARISING UNDER STATE LAW �1
WHEREAS, Subsection (b) of Section 602 of the City Charter
provides-.
and
"The City Attorney shall have power and may be required

(b) Prosecute on behalf of the people any or all
criminal cases arising from violation of the provisions
of this Charter or City ordinances. He shall prosecute
misdemeanor offenses arising under State law if author=
ized and directed to do so by ordinance or resolution
adopted by the City Council.';
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it would
be in the best interest of the City to have the City Attorney's
office assume the responsibility for the prosecution of certain
offenses arising under State law as hereinafter enumerated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED-.
That the City Attorney is authorized and directed to
commence prosecution of all misdemeanor offenses arising under
State law which are committed within the corporate limits of the
City of Newport Beach, effective on the ist day of November ,
1966, with the exception of the following classes of offenses-
to Offenses arising under the California vehicle Code.
2. Worthless check offenses arising under Penal Code
Section 476(b)<
3e Offenses arising under Penal Code Sections 270,
270(a), 270(c), and 2720

City of Newport Beach filed and maintained in my office, the foregoing
Resolution No. 6442 was duly and regularly adopted,
passed, and approved by the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said City Council held at the
regular meeting place thereof, on the 12th day of September ,
