2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH SUSPENDING THE OPERATION OF CERTAIN
3 PARKING METERS AND LIMITING THE PARSING OF VEHICLES
IN CERTAIN PORTIONS_OF.PARKING IIETER.ZONE -4

00 511 WHEREAS, Section 12.44.050 of the Newport Beach Municipal
6' Code provides that the City Council may suspend the operation of
7 parking meters by resolution for a period of time specified in
8 such resolution; and
9 WHEREAS, Section 12.44.020 of the Municipal Code estab-
10 lishes certain on- street parking meter zones and Resolution No.
11 6654 establishes the time of operation of parking meters within
121 such parking meter zones; and
13 0iEREAS.. Section 12.44.010 of the Municipal Code pro -
14 vides that when authorized signs are in place giving notice there -
15 of, no person shall stop, stand, or park any vehicle between the
16 hours of eight a.m, and six p.m. of any day for a period of time
17 longer than two hours upon such streets or portions thereof as the
18 City Council shall designate by resolution; and
19 IrRMEAS, the City is contemplating doing certain improve -
20 ment work in the area in which the parking meters hereinafter
21 described are located under public works contract No. 1143 desig-
22 nated 'Newport Ocean Front Parking Lot Improvements "; and
23 WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the opera-
241 Lion of certain parking meters in parking meter zone 4 is not
25± necessary for the regulation of traffic and parking and should be
26 suspended, and that it is necessary to limit the parking of
27 vehicles in that area during the period of suspension, as herein -
28 after provided;
29 NOW, T: RZF'C:iZ7, BE IT RESOLVED-.
30 1. The operation of all parking meters on Ocean Front
31I between McFadden Place and 24th Street in parking meter zone 4 is
3,a suspended every day for the period beginning December ?�•, 1357,

llli and ending February 29, 195,, or on the date the work to be per-
2 formed pursuant to contract No, 1143 has been completed, whichever
3 date is later,
4 2; The parking of vehicles between the hours of 8:00
5 a.m. and 6 :00 p.m, every day beginning December 28, 1967, and
6I ending February 29, 1968, or on the date the work to be performed
7 pursuant to contract Rio. 1143 has been completed, ea.ichever date
8 is later, is limited to two (2) %ours on Ocean Front between
9 McFadden Place and 24th Street in parking meter zone 4, and the
10 City Manager is authorized and directed to cause signs tc be
11 posted on said street giving notice of such parking restriction.
