RESOLUTION No. 6726
P. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES
3 IN ITS EFFORTS TO BE SELECTED AS THE HOST CITY
FOR. THE 1976 SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES .

5! WHEREAS , the United States Olympic Committee will soon
6'I select an American city as an entrant in the worldwide competi-

711 tion for selection of the site for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games;
8 and
9 WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Los
10 Angeles have expressed interest in having the City of Los Angeles
11 selected as the host city for the 1976 Summer Olympic Games; and
12 WHEREAS, there is widespread support throughout Southern

13 California for holding this outstanding athletic event in Los
14 Angeles; and
15 WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this City Council that
16 the City of Los Angeles would be a superb place to hold the 1976
17 Summer Olympic Games because of its ideal climate and excellent
18 sports facilities;
19i NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
20 the City of Newport Beach that it wholeheartedly endorses and
21 supports the efforts of the Mayor and City Council of Los Angeles,
22 the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, and numerous other
23 public agencies and private clubs to achieve the goal of obtaining
24 the selection of the City of Los Angeles as the host city for the
25 1976 Summer Olympic Games*
26 ADOPTED this 11th day of March, 1968.

I, LAURA LAGIOS, City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach, California,
do hereby certify that according to the records of the City of Newport Beach
filed and maintained in my office, the foregoing Resolution No. 6726 was
duly and regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said City Council
held at the regular meeting place thereof, on the 11th day of March 1968,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Rogers, Marshall, Gruber, Cook, Forgit Shelton
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: Parsons
