RESOLUTION NOo 6780
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF THE
PROPOSED.CONSOLIDATION -OF THE COSTA MESA
SANITARY DISTRICT -WITH -THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
WHEREAS., the City of Costa Mesa proposes to make appli-
cation for a consolidation of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District
with the City of Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS, said proposal will result in proceedings before
the Local Agency Formation Commission at which time the City of
Costa Mesa proposes that a parent district be formed with two
subsidiary districts, one being that portion of the Costa Mesa
Sanitary District in the.County and the other being that portion
of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District in the City of Newport Beach;
and
WHEREAS, the consolidation and reorganization of the
District will aid in the ultimate elimination of double taxation
for sewer maintenance and operation and trash collection within
that portion of the District now within the territorial limits
of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the consolidation and reorganization of the
District will assist in increasing the efficiency of management
of the District for the benefit of the health, safety and welfare
of the taxpayers and citizens of.the City of Newport Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach recommends that the County of Orange
Local Agency Formation Commission approve the proposed consolida-
tion of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District with the City of Costa
Mesa,
