RESOLUTION NO, 6801,
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH INITIATING AMENDMENTS TO TITLES 15,
19 AND 20 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO ADMINISTRATIVE FEES FOR SIGNING, SUB-
DIVISIONS, AND ZONING APPLICATIONS
_ WHEREAS, Sections 15.16.060, 19.12.010, 19.12.040A,
20.46.0309 20.480020, 20.50.0309 20.5 1 050, 20.54.020 and 20.58.010
of the Newport Beach Municipal Code set forth certain required fees
to be charged for processing signing, subdivision and zoning ap-
plications; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council that
said application fees should meet the actual expenses incurred by
the City for processing; and
WHEREAS, it is determined that the present schedule of
fees for administrative applications are below the amount of
expense being incurred by the City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to initiate amendments
to the Municipal Code which would increase the schedule of fees
provided for processing certain signing, subdivision and zoning
applications;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
hereby proposes the following amendments to the Municipal Code:
1. Section 15.16.060 would be amended to increase the
amount of the application fee for a Sign Exception Permit from
the present $25.00 (no public hearing) and $40.00 (with public
hearing) to one standard fee of $ 10Co00.
2. Section 19.12.010 would be amended to increase the
amount of the application fee for the filing of a Tentative Sub-
division Map from a mimimum of $100.00 or $5.00 per lot, which-
ever is greater, to $ 200.00 plus $5.00 per lot for each lot
over forty.
3. Section 19.12.040A would be amended to increase
the amount of a resubdivision application from $25.00 for filing
a map, plus $25.00 for recording an approved map, to one single
fee of $ % -25.03 to cover both processes,
4. Section 20.46,030 would be amended to increase the
amount of the application fee for a Zoning Use Permit from $30.00
to $ 15C.00
• 5. Section 20.48.020 would be amended to increase the
amount of the application fee for a Zoning Variance from $50.00
(with public hearing) and $15.00 (no public hearing) to one single
fee of $ 1.220000
6. Section 20.50.030 would be amended to increase the
amount of the application fee for a Use Permit in a Planned Resi-
dential Development from the present fee of $500.00 for five acres
or less, plus $100.00 for each acre in excess of five, to a single
fee in an amount certain,wYthtn the range of x70( .00 to $1DOOO.0e.
7. Section 20.51.050 would be amended to increase the
amount of the application fee for classification of land to a
Planned Community District from the present fee of $100.00 (as a

range of $725.00 to $1,000.00.
8. Section 20,54.020 would be amended to increase the
amount of the application fee for a Petition for a Zoning Amendment
from $100.00 to
9. Section 20.58.010 would be amended to provide a new
fee for processing an appeal from a decision of the Planning Com-
mission to the City Council in the amount of $ 75.00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to the Planning Commission, and the Planning Commission
is hereby directed to consider the proposed amendments and make a
report of its findings and recommendations to the City Council.
