NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that it is strongly opposed to the
approval of the application of Skybus, Inc., for a certificate
of public convenience and necessity to operate a commuter air
service from Orange County Airport, and respectfully requests
that the Public Utilities Commission deny said application for
the following reasons:
a. There is no established need for any additional
commuter service at the present time. There are presently two
commuter airlines which are providing service between Orange
County Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. These
existing commuter services are adequately serving the public.
b. The equipment which Skybus, Inc., proposes to
use, e.g., the Lockheed Super Constellation, is a relatively
old type of aircraft which was not designed for short -trip
