A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH CONSENTING TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF
ANNEXATION PROCEEDINGS PURSUANT TO THE INHABITED
TERRITORY ANNEXATION ACT OF 1913 TO BE KNOWN.AS
ANNEXATION NO. 63, WEST SANTA ANA.EEIGHTS _
WHEREAS, the City Council has received a request from
property owners in the area known as west Santa Ana Heights asking
that the City Council consent to the annexation of certain contiguous,
unincorporated territory to the City of Newport Beach which is
described generally as a territory bounded by Santa Ana Avenue on
the west, Palisades Road on the north and the Orange County Flood
Control District and Birch Street on the east, and Mesa Drive and
Orchard Drive on the south; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously referred the
matter of the request for annexation to the Planning Commission
for study and has received a favorable report and recommendation
from the Planning Commission; and
WHEREAS, Section 35106 of the California Government Code
requires that the consent of the City Council must be obtained
before any proceedings are commenced for the annexation of
territory to a city pursuant to the provisions of the Inhabited
Territory Annexation Act of 1913; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to express its consent
to the commencement of proceedings to annex said territory to the
City of Newport Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that it hereby consents to the commencement
of proceedings to annex the above described territory known as
Annexation No. 63, west Santa Ana Heights, to the City pursuant
to provisions of the Inhabited Territory Annexation Act of 1913.
ADOPTED this 28th day of April, 1969.
