A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO BECOME A MEMBER OF
THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF
. GOVERNMENTS (SCAG) AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR
AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A JOINT EXERCISE
• OF POWERS AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, the organization known as the Southern
California Association of Governments (SCAG) provides a forum
for discussion and study of regional problems of mutual
interest and concern to the member cities and counties, and
provides a regional approach to the development of recommenda-
tions for the solution of such problems; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach has carefully considered the desirability of having the
City become a member of the Southern California Association
of Governments (SCAG); and
WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed a proposed joint
exercise of powers agreement which would authorize City member-
ship in SCAG, together with the by -laws of that organization,
and has determined that it would be in the best interests of
the City of Newport Beach to enter into said agreement and
accept membership in SCAG;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that the agreement designated as
"Southern California Association of Governments Agreement" is
hereby approved, and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized and directed to execute said agreement on behalf of
the City of Newport Beach..
