A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH EULOGIZING THE MEMORY OF
CONGRESSMAN JAMES B. UTT, AND EXPRESSING ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE RESIDENTS
OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH A DEEP SENSE OF
LOSS
WHEREAS, on March 1, 1970, Congressman JAMES B. UTT
died suddenly in Washington, D. C.; and
WHEREAS, Congressman Utt had served the people of
the Nation and his District for a period of nine consecutive
terms in the U. S. House of Representatives; and
WHEREAS, Congressman Utt built a reputation as a man
of-high principles who was always diligent in pursuing the
interests of his constituents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that this Council wishes it to be
known that it is deeply grieved by the death of Congressman
JAMES B. UTT, and wishes to commemorate his many years of
faithful and devoted service to the people of Orange County and
to extend its heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Utt and the other
members of his family.
