• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ENDORSING THE
• RECOMMENDATIONS SET FORTH IN THE REPORT
OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT TASK FORCE ON
COASTLINE PRESERVATION
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach, the County of
Orange, and the other coastal cities of Orange County have
demonstrated that they are aware of the challenge to local
government to work cooperatively with the State of California to
plan for the orderly growth and development of the coastal area;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
has reviewed the report prepared by the Local Government Task
Force on Coastline preservation which was appointed by Lieutenant
Governor Ed Reinecke to study the problem of coordinating the
activities of the federal, state and local governments in planning
the development of the coastline; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the recommenda-
tions of the Task Force constitute a workable program which will
point the way towards an effective and intelligent approach to
shoreline planning;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby endorses the recommendations made
in the report of the Local Government Task Force on Coastline
Preservation, and commends Lieutenant Governor Ed Reinecke and the
members of the Task Force for an outstanding job.
ADOPTED this 13th day of April, 1970.
