A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING THE CONTINUATION
OF THE ORANGE COUNTY HEALTH PLANNING COUNCIL
AND ITS DESIGNATION AS THE "HEALTH SYSTEMS
AGENCY"
WHEREAS, in 1972 the Orange County Health Planning
• Council was designated as the comprehensive health planning
agency for the Orange County area pursuant to the federal "Part-
nership For Health Act "; and
WHEREAS, since that time the Health Planning Council
has succeeded in building a viable agency, producing Orange
County's first Health Facilities and Services Plan, and has in
addition, conducted reviews of more than 50 million dollars worth
of facility construction and project proposals; and
WHEREAS, President Ford has recently signed into law
the "National Health Planning and Resources Development Act of
1974 ", which replaces and improves upon the old "Partnership For
Health Act "; and
WHEREAS, under the new law comprehensive health planning
agencies are being changed to "health systemsagencies "; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Health Planning Council has
requested the City Council to support the continuation of that
body and designate it as the appropriate "health systems agency"
for our area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered this request
and found it to be in the best interests of the City of Newport
Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby expresses its support for the
• continuation of the Orange County Health Planning Council and
• designates that body as the "health systems agency" for our area.
