A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING THE PUBLIC SAFETY
ELEMENT OF THE NEWPORT BEACH GENERAL PLAN
WHEREAS, State law requires cities to adopt a Public
Safety Element, including Safety and Seismic Safety Elements as
ispart of their General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Public Safety Element is
to introduce safety considerations in the planning process in
order to reduce loss of life, injuries, damage to property, and
economic and social dislocation resulting from fire, flood and
dangerous geologic occurrences; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 707 of the City Charter,
the Planning Commission of the City of Newport Beach has held
a public hearing to consider the Public Safety Element as part
of the City's General Plan and has recommended that the City
Council adopt said element; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a public hearing
to consider the adoption of the Public Safety Element as part of
the General Plan for the City of Newport Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby adopt as a part of the
General Plan the Public Safety Element, a copy of which is on
file in the office of the City Clerk.
ADOPTED this 10th day of March , 1975.
