A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING THE LAND USE
AND RESIDENTIAL GROWTH ELEMENTS OF THE GENERAL
PLAN, CONSIDERING ALTERNATIVE LAND USE DESIGNA-
TIONS FOR THE UNDEVELOPED PROPERTY IN NEWPORT
CENTER LOCATED AT JAMBOREE ROAD AND COAST HIGHWAY
(CURRENTLY DESIGNATED "LOW- DENSITY RESIDENTIAL ")
AND AT MACARTHUR BOULEVARD AND COAST HIGHWAY
• (CURRENTLY DESIGNATED "ADMINISTRATIVE, PROFESSIONAL
AND FINANCIAL" AND "RECREATIONAL AND MARINE
COMMERCIAL "), (AMENDMENT NO. 20)
WHEREAS, a phase of the City's General Plan program
has involved the preparation of the Land Use and Residential
Growth Elements of the Newport Beach General Plan; and
WHEREAS, said Land Use and Residential Growth Elements
designate the undeveloped property in Newport Center located at
Jamboree Road and Coast Highway as "Low- density Residential "; and
WHEREAS, said Land Use and Residential Growth Elements
designate the property located at MacArthur Boulevard and Coast
Highway, between MacArthur Boulevard and Avocado as "Administra-
tive, Professional and Financial" and "Recreational and Marine
Commercial "; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 707 of the Charter of the
City of Newport Beach, the Planning Commission has held a public
hearing to consider an amendment to the Land Use and Residential
Growth Elements of the Newport Beach General Plan to consider an
alternative land use for the undeveloped property in Newport Center
located at Jamboree Road and Coast Highway to consider the
possibility of "Recreational and Marine Commercial" to be added
to the land use designation previously recommended by the Planning
Commission of "Administrative, Professional and Financial
Commercial "; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 707 of the Charter of the
City of Newport Beach, the Planning Commission has held a public
• hearing to consider the deletion of "Recreational and Marine
Commercial" from the Land Use and Residential Growth Elements of
the Newport Beach General Plan for the land located at the inter-
section of MacArthur Boulevard and Coast Highway, between
MacArthur Boulevard and Avocado; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended to
the City Council said amendment to the Land Use and Residential
Growth Elements of the Newport Beach General Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing
to consider said amendment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby adopt General Plan
Amendment No. 20, changing land use designations for undeveloped
property in Newport Center, located at Jamboree Road and Coast
Highway and at MacArthur Boulevard and Coast Highway, as described
hereinabove.
