RESOLUTION NO. 8683
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ENDORSING THE NEWPORT BEACH
ELEMENT OF THE CALIFORNIA COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL
JUSTICE REGION 3 PLAN
WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Element of the Regional
Plan for Youth Services (CCCJ Region 3 Plan), will provide
a comprehensive service and planning approach to the challenge
of dealing with the status offender; and
WHEREAS, the primary objective of the Plan is to
maximize diversion of status offenders, when appropriate,
from the formal juvenile justice system by utilizing the
resources of the family and responsible community agencies;
and
WHEREAS, the Newport Beach City Council has reviewed
the CCCJ Region 3 Plan and believes it will strengthen an
important link in the Juvenile Justice System;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Newport Beach
City Council hereby accepts and endorses the Newport Beach
Element of the California Council on Criminal Justice Region 3
Plan.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is
hereby authorized to notify the California Council on Criminal
Justice of the City's acceptance of the Newport Beach Element
of the Region 3 Plan.
