A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
• OF NEWPORT BEACH PROHIBITING SKATEBOARDING
ON CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS LOCATED IN THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH
•
WHEREAS, on March 22, 1976, the Newport Beach City
Council adopted Ordinance No. 1660, entitled "An Ordinance of
the City of Newport Beach adding Chapter 12.57 to the Newport
Beach Municipal Code entitled 'Skateboarding Regulations"
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 12.57.020 of said
ordinance,the City Council may prohibit skateboarding by resolu-
tion on certain public streets located within the City of
Newport Beach, having a grade of six percent (6 %) or more and
which are declared to be hazardous to pedestrians, motorists
or persons operating skateboards; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that
those segments of the streets designated on the attached exhibit
marked Exhibit "A ", which is incorporated herein, located within
the City of Newport Beach, have a grade of six percent (6%) or
more and could be dangerous or a hazard to pedestrians, motorists
or persons operating skateboards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach declares that said segments of said
streets as shown on Exhibit "A" are found to be hazardous to
pedestrians, motorists or persons operating skateboards and that
• skateboarding is hereby prohibited thereon.
• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby
authorized to post said segments of said streets with appropriate
signs giving notice to the public of this prohibition.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution will take
• effect on April 23, 1976.
• ADOPTED this 12th day of April 1976.
