A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY'COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING THE COMPENSATION
PLAN AND TABLE OF AUTHORIZATION OF PERMANENT
EMPLOYEE CLASSES FOR TIRE 1979 -80 FISCAL PERIOD
AS AMENDED
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach has adopted Resolutions No. 9449, 9455, 9459, 9460,
9471, 9473 and 9568 which establish a Compensation Plan and
Table of Authorization of permanent employee classes for the
1979 -80 fiscal period; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend the
Compensation Plan and Table of Authorization of permanent
employee classes for the 1979 -80 fiscal period,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT :RESOLVED that the Compensation
Plan and Table of Authorization of permanent employee classes
for the 1979 -80 fiscal period be amended, which amended Plan
and Table is attached hereto and incorporated herein by this
reference.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS REGARDING COMPENSATION
EFFECTIVE JUNE 30, 1979
COMPENSATION FOR SPECIAL ON- THE -JOB ASSIGNMENTS
Automotive Classes
Automotive Shop employees assigned to regular full work shifts at night
receive $.25 per hour night differential pay.
Fire Classes
Fire personnel assigned to a 40 -hour work week in Fire Prevention for more
than 30 consecutive days receive an additional 7.5% compensation.
Firefighters assigned as Fire Battalion Chief Aides for more than 30
consecutive days receive an additional 5% compensation.
The Fire Captain assigned as the Training Officer for more than 30 consecutive
days receives an additional 7.5% compensation.
The Fire Battalion Chief assigned as the Executive Officer for more than
30 consecutive days receives an additional 12.5% compensation.
Police Classes
o ic�T e Officers, Policewoman, Police Sergeants and Police Lieutenants
assigned to Detective duty for more than 30 consecutive days receive
an additional 5% compensation.
Police Officers assigned to two -wheel motorcycles receive and additional
5% compensation.
Notice Officers assigned as Beat Coordinators for more than 30 consecutive
days receive an additional 5% compensation.
Police Officers assigned as Traffic Investigators for more than 30 consecutive
days receive an additional 5% compensation.
Police Officers assigned as Felony Unit Investigators for more than 30
consecutive days receive an additional 2.5% compensation.
The Police Officers assigned as Community Relations Officers for more than
.30 consecutive days receive an additional 2.5% compensation.
Police Officers assigned as Helicopter Pilots for more than 30 consecutive
days receive an additional 10% compensation.
The Police Officer assigned as Helicopter Maintenance and Training Coordinator
or more than 30 consecutive days receives and additional 12.5% compensation.
Police clerical employees assigned to regulare full work shifts at night
receive $.375 per hour night differential pay.

SPECIAL PROVISION REGARDING COMPENSATION (CONTINUED)
Police clerical employees assigned to regular full work shifts at night
receive $ .375 per hour night differnetial pay.
Police Clerk I's assigned as Secretaries to Division Heads shall receive an
additional 7.5% compensation. Such assignments shall be at the discretion of
the Chief of Police and will be based on job performance.
Marine Department Classes
Permanent employees of the Marine Department who are certified members of
the Underwater Search and Recovery Team shall be compensated at the rate of
$50.00 per month.
Marine Safety Officers assigned as Boat Operators shall be compensated at
the rate of $12.50 per month..
Compensation for Off -Duty Assignments
Police Classes
Police employees assigned to work as' ammunition reloaders during off -duty
hours receive $2.70 hourly compensation.
All Classes
City employees assigned as representatives of the City to work for private
employers receive special overtime compensation at their regularly assigned
salary rate. The private employers will be billed by the City for the amount
of this compensation plus overhead as follows:
1. Miscellaneous employees during working hours 30 %
2. Public Safety (Fire and Police) during normal
working hours 31.5%
3. All employees during non - working hours 22 %
Compensation For Special Qualifications
Engineering Classes
Engineers registered by the State of California assigned to classes not
requiring State registration receive an additional 5% compensation.
Police Classes
o ice,emp oyees shall be compensated as follows for shooting proficiency:

Refuse Classes
Refuse Crewmen and Refuse Leadmen assigned to a one -man refuse vehicle and
a standard 40 -hour week receive an additional 15% conpensation.

Salary Schedule Conversion for Fire Personnel
Reimbursement for less than a full pay period for Fire personnel on
normal 12 -hour shift duty will be based on the following conversion
table (56.0 hours weekly, 112.0 hours biweekly).
