A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE "75TH
ANNIVERSARY" AD HOC COMMITTEE AND SETTING
FORTH THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THAT
COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach was incorporated on
September 1, 1906; and
WHEREAS, the 75th birthday of the City will occur on
September 1, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
desires to establish an ad hoc committee to coordinate the plans
for the observance of the City's 75th birthday; and
WHEREAS, said committee will be known as the "75th
Anniversary Committee "; and
WHEREAS, it is the purpose of this Resolution to
establish the responsibilities and objectives of the 75th
Anniversary Committee,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the duties and responsibilities of
the 75th Anniversary Committee shall be as follows:
1. The 75th Anniversary Committee shall be composed of
fourteen (14) members, each of whom shall be appointed by the
0 Mayor.
2. A quorum of said Committee shall consist of one -third
of any currently serving membership, but not less than five (5)
persons eligible to vote.

3. The Committee chairman and vice - chairman shall be
appointed by the Mayor.
4. The Committee shall appoint any necessary working
subcommittees.
5. The Committee shall hold at least one regular meeting
each month within the City of Newport: Beach.
6. The Committee shall report to the City Council at a
Study Session as often as is necessary to advise the City Council
on the progress of the Committee and the projects and activities
which have been planned or undertaken by the Committee. The
Committee shall act as the City's official body to coordinate and
carry out plans and events to commemorate the 75th birthday of
the City of Newport Beach.
7. The various programs, events and activities conducted
by the Committee should be in keeping with the historic celebra-
tion of the City's 75th birthday and deal primarily with the tra-
ditions and history of Newport Beach from its preincorporation
times to present.
8. The Committee shall cease to exist and be
automatically sunsetted on September 1, 1981.
ADOPTED this 8th day of September , 1980.
