RESOLUTION NO. 10052
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF
SEASHORE DRIVE ON THE FOURTH OF JULY, 1981,
PURSUANT TO CVC §21100
WHEREAS, each year during the Fourth of July weekend huge
throngs of visitors come to the beach area to join in the
celebration and festivities; and
WHEREAS, this large number of persons coming to the beach
causes extreme traffic congestion, especially along Seashore
Drive, making it almost impossible for emergency vehicles to
respond in this area; and
WHEREAS, Section 21100 of the California Vehicle Code
enables cities to adopt resolutions regulating traffic;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that pursuant to CVC §21100 the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby authorize the
temporary closure of Seashore Drive from 33rd Street to Orange
Street between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. on July 2nd,
3rd, 4th and 5th, 1981.
