A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH TO BE A "FOUR -WAY TEST" CITY, PROCLAIM-
ING OCTOBER 20, 1981 AS "FOUR -WAY TEST DAY"
AND AUTHORIZING THE NEWPORT BALBOA ROTARY
CLUB, NEWPORT IRVINE ROTARY CLUB AND NEWPORT
CENTER SUNRISE ROTARY CLU13 TO ADVERTISE AND
PROMOTE THE CITY AS SUCH
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach by members of the Newport Balboa
Rotary Club, Newport Irvine Rotary Club and Newport Center
Sunrise Rotary Club a plan whereby the City of Newport Beach will
be promoted as a "Four -Way Test" City as an appropriate standard
by which to govern the actions of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the "Four -Way Test" will help individuals in
building mutual respect and understanding for each other; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach,
after due consideration, finds that the "Four -Way Test" is a good
standard by which to guide its determination for action on
matters which come before it, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
desires to assist local Rotary Clubs by proclaiming a day to be
called "Four -Way Test Day" in the City of Newport Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the City of Newport Beach is here-
by declared a "Four -Way Test" City and that the "Four -Way Test"
shall include the following qustions prior to decision upon
matters which come before it for action and determination:
First - is it the truth?
• Second - is it fair to all concerned?
Third - will it build good will and better friendships?
Fourth - will it be beneficial to all concerned?
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that October 20, 1981 be and it
hereby is proclaimed to be "Four -Way Test Day" in the City of
• Newport Beach; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Newport Balboa Rotary Club,
Newport Irvine Rotary Club and Newport Center Sunrise Rotary Club
are hereby authorized to advertise and promote the fact that the
City of Newport Beach has adopted the "Four -Way Test."
ADOPTED this 28th day of September , 1981.
