RESOLUTION NO., 82 -137
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A "NO
PARKING /TOW AWAY" ZONE ON 14TH ST., BETWEEN
WEST OCEAN FRONT AND WEST BALBOA BLVD.
WHEREAS, Section 12.44.010 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides, among other things, than when authorized
signs are in place giving notice thereof, no person shall stop,
stand or park any vehicle between the hours of 8:00 a.m, to 6:00
p.m., of any day for, a period of time longer than two hours,
upon such streets or portions thereof as the City Council shall
designated by Resolution; and
WHEREAS, Section 12.44.010 (c) of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code further provides that the City Council may vary
the hours and days during which the foregoing restrictions shall
be in effect; and
WHEREAS, at present, the area on 14th St., between West
Ocean Front and West Balboa Blvd., is posted "No Parking" only,
with no tow -away authorization; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Affairs Committee has recommended
to the City Council the necessity of providing a turn - around area
for school buses at the hereinbefore mentioned location;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the parking of vehicles between
the hours of 7:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m., on school days, on 14th
St., between West Ocean Front and West Balboa Blvd., be posted a
"No Parking /Tow Away Zone ";
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED'that the City Traffic Engineer
be and hereby is authorized and directed to appropriately sign or
mark said area to indicate such area as a "No Parking /Tow Away"
zone.
