RESOLUTION NO. 96- 45
A RESOLUTION OF INTENT OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH INITIATING AN
AMENDMENT TO TITLE 20 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH
MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO THE REVISION OF
DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS FOR RESIDENTIAL
CONSTRUCTION ON BALBOA ISLAND AND LITTLE
BALBOA ISLAND
WHEREAS, Title 20, Chapter 20.84, of the Newport Beach Municipal Code
authorizes the City Council to adopt a resolution initiating amendments to the Zoning Ordinance
of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Council intends to initiate an amendment to Chapter 20.14,
the R -1.5 District, of the Municipal Code to provide for changes in the development standards
that apply to Balboa Island and Little Balboa Island: to establish requirements for enclosed
parking spaces; to establish open space requirements at the front and rear of residential properties;
and to allow increased building square footage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does initiate an amendment to Chapter 20.14 (R -1.5 District) of the Newport
Beach Municipal Code to alter the development standards as apply to residential development on
Balboa Island and Little Balboa Island, and refers this matter to the Planning Commission for
public hearing and recommendation.
