A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH ESTABLISHING THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, the City's Housing Element encourages the housing development
industry to respond to the housing needs of the community as well as the demand for
housing perceived by the industry; and
WHEREAS, private industry alone has not generated affordable housing units to
meet community needs and achieve regional housing goals in Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, in order to meet community needs and achieve regional goals, a Task
Force is needed to identify, evaluate and implement one or more affordable housing
• projects to address the affordable housing needs in Newport Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach does hereby establish the Affordable Housing Task Force.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force shall have the following
responsibilities and characteristics:
Membership shall consist of three (3) City Council members
appointed by the Mayor and supported by City staff.
2. The duties and responsibilities of the Task Force shall be to
identify, evaluate and implement one or more affordable housing projects
to satisfy community needs and achieve regional housing goals.
3. The Task Force shall consult with property owners, builders and
• persons experienced in the development of affordable housing as needed.
4. The meeting schedule of the Task Force shall be determined by
• members of the Task Force.
5. The term of the Task Force shall be one year, unless extended by
the City Council.
6. The goal of the Task Force shall be to submit, for City Council
consideration, one or more affordable housing projects to meet community
needs and achieve regional housing goals.

resolution, being Resolution No. 2000 -27 was duly and regularly introduced before and adopted by
the City Council of said City at a regular meeting of said Council, duly and regularly held on the
14th day of March, 2000, and that the same was so passed and adopted by the following vote, to wit:
