A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISHING A
CITY COUNCIL AD HOC COMMITTEE TO REVIEW THE
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND
ASSIST THE CITY COUNCIL IN ADOPTING THE CANNERY
VILLAGE /MCFADDEN SQUARE SPECIFIC AREA PLAN
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach desires the
• adoption of a Specific Area Plan for the Cannery Village /McFadden Square
area; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission shall conduct public hearings on the
proposed Specific Area Plan prior to making a recommendation to the City
Council regarding said Specific Area Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to have an Ad Hoc City Council Review
Committee review the Planning Commission recommendation prior to the City
Council holding public hearings on the proposed plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach that an Ad Hoc Committee is hereby established.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the functions, duties, and composition of
the Committee shall be as follows:
1. The Committee shall be composed of three Council members only;
consisting of the Mayor, the Councilman representing the
District in which the Cannery Village /McFadden Square Specific
Area Plan area is located, and one additional Councilman, both
appointed by the Mayor.
2. Subsequent to the completion of the Planning Commission public
hearings on the proposed Specific Area Plan, the Committee shall
review the Planning Commission's recommendations for
compatibility with the Local Coastal Plan, and such other
elements of the General Plan as may be appropriate, and shall
transmit its report and recommendations along with the
recommendations of the Planning Commission to the City Council
for final review and adoption of a Specific Area Plan.
3. Staff Support. Staff liaison and support shall be provided by
the Planning Department with assistance of other City
departments as may be needed from time to time.
4. Term. The term of the Committee shall automatically expire on
April 1, 1985, unless extended by action of the City Council.
The term of the Committee may expire at an earlier date if a
final report and recommendations are received and acted on by
the City Council at an earlier date..
