A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO FILE A WRITTEN ARGUMENT IN SUPPORT OF
A CITY MEASURE PERTAINING TO NEWPORT CENTER
AND PERIPHERAL SITES GENERAL PLAN AND LOCAL,
COASTAL PLAN AMENDMENTS
• WHEREAS, on July 14, 1986 the City Council adopted
Resolutions 86 -55 and 86 -56 approving amendments to the General
Plan and Local Coastal Program pertaining to Newport Center and
Peripheral Sites (GPA 85- 1[B)); and
WHEREAS, on August 13, 1986 a Referendum Petition
protesting the approval of these two Resolutions was submitted to
the City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk: has certified that the
Referendum Petition has obtained a sufficient number of
signatures to require these Resolutions to be repealed or
submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Newport Beach
for their approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
has determined that it is appropriate to submit these Resolutions
to the qualified electors at a special election to be held
November 25, 1986.
MEASURE - GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT
Shall the Newport Center and
Peripheral Sites General Plan and
Local Coastal Plan Amendments (GPA
85 -1[B)) be adopted?
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY CIJUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
• BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:

Section 1. That the City Council authorizes Mayor
Philip Maurer, Mayor Pro Tem, Ruthelyn Plummer, and
Councilmembers, William Agee, Jackie Heather and John Cox to sign
a written argument, including rebuttal argument, in favor of the
adoption of the measure pertaining to Newport Center and
• Peripheral Sites General Plan and Local Coastal Plan Amendments
to be submitted to the voters at a special election on November
25, 1986.
Section 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the
book of original resolutions.
