A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING A CLASSIFICATION MANUAL
AND COMPENSATION STUDY.
• WHEREAS, the City Council previously hired a consultant
to prepare a Classification Manual and conduct a Compensation
Study; and
WHEREAS, the Classification Manual has been prepared and
the Compensation Study has been completed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adopt the
Classification Manual; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the Classification
Manual will supersede the present Personnel Classification and
Specification Manual; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the City Manager
continue to have the authority to consider and approve or deny
organizational personnel reclassifications administratively; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adopt the
Compensation Study as a guideline only for use as reference data
for future meet and confer and general job pricing; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the City Council
Policy J -1 continue to be followed as the official Compensation
Policy for the City of Newport Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach as follows:
1. The Classification Manual is hereby adopted. This
Classification Manual shall supersede the present Personnel
Classification and Specification Manual.
2. The Compensation Study is hereby adopted as a
guideline only for use as reference data for future meet and
• confer and general job pricing.

3. A copy of the Classification Manual and Compensation
Study shall be available for public inspection at the City
Clerk's Office and the Personnel Office of the City of Newport
Beach.
