A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DESIGNATING CERTAIN STREETS AS
"SIGNIFICANT LINKS" IN THE CITY'S CIRCULATION
SYSTEM.
• WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that certain
streets in residential districts carry relatively heavy volumes of
traffic; and
WHEREAS, residential development and redevelopment along
these streets contributes to the high volume of traffic and should
be permitted only in conjunction with the widening and improvement
of the abutting street and sidewalks consistent with provisions of
the City's Circulation Element; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Beach Municipal Code requires the
City Council to designate, by resolution, those streets which
constitute "significant links" in the City's circulation system
such that the abutting property owner is required to improve the
street and sidewalks to master plan specifications in conjunction
with any substantial construction on adjacent private property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach designates the following as "significant
links" in the circulation system for the purposes of the
provisions of Section 13.05.010 of 'the Newport Beach Municipal
Code:
1. All arterial streets shown on the City's master plan
of streets and highways which are located in a residential zoning
district;
0 2. Bayside Drive between Jamboree Road and Marguerite
Avenue;

Avenue;
3. Ocean Boulevard between Carnation Avenue and Poppy
4. Fifth Avenue between Dahlia Avenue and Poppy Avenue;
5. Bayside Drive from Coast Highway to its terminus
northerly of Coast Highway;
6. Cliff Drive between Riverside Avenue and Dover Drive;
7. Riverside Avenue between Avon Street and Cliff Drive;
8. Irvine Avenue between Cliff Drive and 16th Street;
9. 15th Street between Old Newport Boulevard and Irvine
Avenue;
10. Westminster Avenue between Old Newport Boulevard and
15th Street; and
11. Old Newport Boulevard between 15th Street and Santa
Ana Avenue.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of August, 1988.
