A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING THE ORANGE
COUNTY REGIONAL ADVISORY PLANNING COUNCIL
AS THE GOVERNING BOARD OF AN ORANGE COUN-
TY METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION
• WHEREAS, the Federal Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act
(ISTEA) provides the opportunity for counties and cities to establish their own Metropolitan
Planning Organization; and
•
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach believes that it
is in the best interest of Orange County to establish a Metropolitan Planning Organization;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach believes that the
Metropolitan Planning Organization should have broad representation from local
jurisdictions.
NOW THEREFORE BE TT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach supports the creation of an Orange County Metropolitan Planning
Organization to be responsible for regional planning in the areas of transportation, housing,
and air quality; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach supports Regional Advisory Planning Council as the Governing Board of an Orange
County Metropolitan Planning Organization.
