A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING
THE FINES FOR CERTAIN MUNICIPAL CODE
VIOLATIONS RELATED TO PARKING.
•WHEREAS, Newport Beach Municipal Code establishes
certain parking regulations; and
WHEREAS, the fines imposed for violation of sections of
the Municipal Code related to parking were historically set and
enforced by Harbor Municipal Court; and
WHEREAS, the State of California adopted Assembly Bill
408 which decriminalized parking violations and required the City
to assume processing, collection and adjudication responsibilities
for parking violations; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to establish the fine amounts
for violation of certain Municipal Code parking violations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach as follows:
1. The fine for violation of any provision of Municipal
Code Section 12.44.110, relating to expired parking meters shall be
$32.00.
2. The fine for violation of any provision of Municipal
Code Section 12.44.150, relating to parking in violation of
direction of posted signs, shall be $29.00.
3. The fine for violation of any provision of Municipal
Code Section 12.48.040, relating to parking in violation of curb
markings, shall be $42.00.

Code Section 12.44.010, relating to parking time restrictions,
shall be $26.00.
7. The fine for violation of any provision of Municipal
Code Section 12.48.090, relating to parking in alleys, shall be
$42.00.
B. The fine for violation of any provision of Municipal
Code Sections 12.48.050, 12.48.070 or 12.48.080, relating to
parking in loading zones, shall be $33.00.
The fine amounts established by this Resolution shall be
automatically adjusted every two years in July to reflect the
percentage change, rounded to the next highest dollar, in the cost
of doing business as measured by the Consumer Price Index, Los
Angeles- Anaheim - Riverside (1982 -84 =100)
