A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A
PARKING PERMIT SYSTEM FOR USE IN THE
VICINITY OF NEWPORT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
• WHEREAS, Title 12, Chapter 44 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code establishes, among other things, on- street
parking meter zones and sets the fees for parking in such zones
and further provides that the City Council may, by resolution,
establish off - street parking meter zones and set the fees for
parking in said zones; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach operates parking
facilities where a vehicle may be parked, and remain parked
without the payment of fees, if such vehicle has displayed a
current, valid Parking Permit issued by the City of Newport
beach pursuant to authorization of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, Newport Elementary School has no on -site
parking and the staff and volunteers have had to rely on public
parking for as long as the school has existed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach as follows:
1. There is hereby established a parking permit
system consisting of a non - transferable, Parking Permit which,
when affixed to the font windshield of a vehicle within a 7-
inch square in the lower corner farthest removed from the
driver's position, shall authorize the parking of such vehicle
in the metered spaces located in the median of Balboa Boulevard
between 13th Street and 15th Street without requiring the
deposit of coins in the parking meter adjacent to said parking
space. Such parking permit shall not be valid on Saturday,
Sunday or any other day that the school is not in normal
operation.
2. The Parking Permits established pursuant to this
Resolution shall not be usable for vehicles in excess of twenty
(20) feet in length or for vehicles without windshields.
3. The Parking Permits hereinbefore established
shall be appropriately designed and dated to indicate the
appropriate time period during which said Parking Permit shall
be valid.
4. The adoption of this Resolution shall not be
construed to impair the validity of any existing Parking
Permit, and all said Parking Permits shall continue to be
effective for the term issued therefor.
