A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH, CALIFORNIA LIMITING THE NUMBER OF DIRECTORS
APPOINTED TO THE ORANGE COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICTS OF
WHICH THE CITY IS A MEMBER.
WHEREAS, several Orange County Sanitation Districts are included within
the boundaries of Newport Beach and,
• WHEREAS, Section 4730 of the State Health & Safety Code prescribes that
each member agency shall be represented by a director on the District Board and,
WHEREAS, the Joint Boards of Directors established a Committee to study the
re- organization of the District and,

WHEREAS, the Special Committee to Study Reorganization recommended to
the Joint Boards that they adopt a policy wherein each member agency would have
but a single person to serve as the director of all the districts for which the agency is a
member and,
WHEREAS, the Executive Committee has agreed and concurred in this
recommendation and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach has reviewed and
discussed such consolidation of a000intments
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach that:
1. A single member of the City Council will be appointed to serve as a Director of
all sanitation districts of which the City is a member, except in those cases
where two members must be appointed.
2. Be it further resolved that the City of Newport Beach, Boards, Commissions and
Committees Manual, Page D -10 be amended to read as indicated on
Attachment A.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Newport Beach City
Council held on the 14th day of November . 1994.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City
Council by the City of Newport Beach in a regular scheduled meeting thereof,
held on the 14th day of November 1994 by the following vote of the
Council:

AUTHORIZATION: Established by the State Health and Safety Code, Section 4730.

Term: Indefinite
The Mayor, by virtue of his office is a member of the County
Sanitation District Board of Directors. The City Council should
appoint an alternate to the Mayor to serve on the District Boards in
the Mayor's absence, inability, or refusal to serve.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Board meets monthly to set the policy of sewage collection,
treatment and disposal.
