HomeMy WebLinkAbout94-109 - Appointments Committee• • RESOLUTION NO. 94 -109 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS COMMITTEE. WHEREAS, various boards, commissions and committees assist and advise the City Council; and WHEREAS, there is an overabundance of qualified applicants for appointment to such boards, commissions and committees; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a committee to review all applications for such positions; NOW, THEREFORE be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the City Council Appointments Committee is hereby established as follows: 1. The membership shall consist of the Mayor and two Council Members, one of whom shall be appointed chairperson. Appointment shall be made by the Mayor and confirmed by the full City Council. 2. Meetings shall be called by the Chairperson or Mayor as needed. 3. Staff support shall be provided primarily by the City Clerk and by other staff as necessary. 4. The duties of the Committee shall be as follows: (a) Review all applications for positions to City boards and commissions; (b) Conduct any necessary interviews with individual applicants; (c) Recommend to the City Council applicants for appointment to City boards and commissions; and (d) At the direction of the City Council, review applications and make recommendations for appointment to other City committees. 5. The term of this committee shall be indefinite pending City Council action. ADOPTED this 12th date of December 1994. ATTEST: CITY CLERK j MAYOR
