Balboa Advisory Committee October 10, 2013
We are not necessarily against a parking permit district, per se. Our argument is with
the size of the district.
Living between 6`h and 7`h streets, we can attest to the fact that we are not impacted by
tourists parking overnight to go to Catalina or visit Balboa's bars and restaurants.
If we are impacted at all, it is on weekends in the summer, when everyone on the
Peninsula - feels- the - effects.
Most of the year, on any given evening, if our block is full we can name the owners of
the cars as our neighboring residents.
Your survey maps confirm this point. The further you go from downtown Balboa, the
parking is less dense.
My proposal again, would be to limit the western boundary of the permit parking
district to Medina Way. This would cover those residential blocks that are most affected by
non - residents parking by their homes, but would also exclude those of us living in the current
proposed parking district who have no need of a parking permit system.
