In addition to the deficient intersections mentioned above, 7 intersections with existing lanes and 2 with GP lanes in the City of Irvine experience deficient operations.
=Since 2006, additional lanes at several intersections have been constructed, resulting acceptable Level of Service (LOS).
Newport @ Hospital, MacArthur @ Jamboree, Jamboree @ Bristol St. South.
Traffic Volume Trends
■ General Plan Project changes result in the redistribution of peak
hour directional traffic movements that generally do not degrade
roadway system performance.
■ Introducing Residential into mostly Business area causes
redistribution of travel patterns. This results in decreases on some
movements. Calculated LOS would not necessarily increase.
■ Residential trips: primarily outbound AM, inbound PM
■ Office trips: primarily inbound AM, outbound PM
■ Completion of previously recommended intersection improvements
(2006 General Plan) leaves only two deficient intersections in
Newport Beach (with /without proposed General Plan Land Use
Element Amendment):
• Superior Avenue @ Coast Highway
• Newport Boulevard (West) @ Coast Highway
