SUBJECT: Budget Amendment for Reforestation Project
Recommendation:
Approve a budget amendment to increase revenue appropriations of $5,000 in Revenue Account
3180 -5860, and increase expenditure appropriations in Account 7015- C3170367 to fund Bayside
Drive reforestation project.
Background:
Late last year, in conjunction with the remodeling of his home, a Corona del Mar resident
removed a City Eucalyptus tree without authorization. The tree had a calculated value of over
$11,000. The homeowner retained an attorney to dispute the value of the tree, and following a
number of meetings with the Deputy City Attorney, the homeowner eventually agreed to pay
$5,000, with the understanding the funds would be used to replant trees elsewhere in the City.
The funds were deposited into revenue account 3180 -5860 (Street Tree Division — Damage to
City Property). At this time, the funds need to be transferred to an expenditure account, so they
may be utilized to pay for a portion of the reforestation of Bayside Drive between Jamboree
Road and El Paseo Drive. A budget amendment form is attached for this purpose.
