The City Council adopted Resolution No. 2000 -27, establishing the Affordable Housing Task
Force, on March 14, 2000. The Resolution provides for a term of one year.
The Task Force has monitored progress on updating the General Plan Housing Element, urged
The Irvine Company to develop a senior housing project as the affordable housing component of
its CIOSA developments, and directed staff to prepare a request for proposals (RFP) for
additional senior affordable project(s) that could be assisted with in -lieu fees the City has
collected from developers of market rate housing. The Irvine Company and staff are continuing
to discuss the composition of a project, and staff is ready to present a draft RFP to the Task Force
for review. Staff believes there is a continuing need for the Task Force, and has prepared the
attached Resolution extending its term for one year.
