Seeking $6 million for federal FY2011. Thank Senator Feinstein for her support in helping to complete the Upper Bay project Planning The Rhine Channel MND is still moving along on schedule with the help of our Planning Department. '� now RUN am Fernando, 15th and 19th Street Piers * Public Pier Extension Project ❑ Public Works will recommend that City Council approve a contract for Swift Slip to construct these dock extensions. Swift Slip was the lowest qualified bidder. u Permadock, Inc. rescinded its bid for a pultruded fiberglass dock system. D Construction should begin shortly, and hopefully completed by summer. Bay Island Project Update Coastal Permit with conditions was approved in May 2009. All other permits secured. Biggest issue is still with the bridge and the location of the entrance gate (whether it be on the peninsula side or the island side). Construction date is unknown until permit conditions are settled. Mooring Field Realignment The City's application has been passed on to the regional HQ in Alameda, Ca and will then go to national HQ in D.C. Federal Register public review period is 60 days. Will be presented to Council in April / May. Bait Barge RFP San Pedro Bait Company was the successful bidder to supply bait in the entrance channel. Contract is being finalized with the goal of being in operation by April 1. Harbor Entrance Buoy — "J" Marker The Coast Guard removed this buoy on Friday for service, and intends to redeploy on Friday. #8 Marker Coast Guard has the authority to proceed with removing the fixed pile. They are searching for local contractors to help with this project. Coastal Marinas Permit This proposal is "dead." State Water Board will be focusing on the Clean Marina Program instead. However, things could still change, so we'll continue to monitor. Other Issues * Commercial Pier Billings We recently completed an audit of our commercial pier billings for the harbor. Up until now, it was unclear how each individual property was billed, and we noticed some inconsistencies from property to property. This effort will rectify any discrepancies and so everyone is billed in the same manner. wr Balboa Yacht Basin Management Plan to issue the RFP in April. Other Issues Recommend forming a subcommittee to look at: Rules, time limits etc ... for Rhine Channel Dock and Fernando, 15th and 19th Street dock extension projects. These will be built soon, so our time frame is rather short.
