The Library received a much appreciated $5,000 donation from Mr. and Mrs. Phil and Lynn Butterfield through the Foundation. The Butterfields donated the funds to be used specifically for the Balboa Branch. The funds will be used to purchase RFID hardware for the Balboa branch, specifically a self check kiosk. On the 6th, I had the opportunity to address a packed house at the General Gathering of the Friends of OASIS. This was the first time that we evacuated the building using the 2nd floor entry/exit doors as well as the first floor exits. Staff worked on a new procedure to enable us to check and make sure that all staff members were accounted for outside of the building. The drill went smoothly at the Central Library as well as at the Branches. Circulation Interviews for the positions of part-time Library Clerk and part-time Library Page were held in September. Each position accepted 150 applications for the jobs. Testing was held and staff interviewed fourteen people for each position. From the two recruitments we will have selected two candidates to fill the open Clerk positions and three for Page. One of the successful candidates for Clerk is Leah Duffy, who will be promoted from a Page position. The Human Resources Department is assisting the finalists through the pre-employment process.
