Concerts In The Park:
The first of 3 Newport Beach Concerts in the Park was held in the new Civic Center Green. A crowd of 1700
enjoyed the music of U2 tribute band Hollywood U2. The Civic Center Green proved to be an excellent venue
for the concerts.
On Sunday, July 28, at 6PM, Springsteen: The Premier Tribute to the Boss will take you back in time to 1975,
justAafterAtheAreleaseAofABruce’sAbreakthroughAalbum,ABorn To Run. The chronological journey recreates the
mostAmemorableAmomentsAandAstageAinteractionsAthroughAconcertAhistoryAintoAtheAheightAofABruce’sAFameAinA
theA80’sAandAbeyond,AwithAsongsAlikeAGlory Days, Hungry Heart, Dancing in the Dark, Trapped, Born In The
USA.
On Sunday, August 11, at 6pm, Upstream, a band originating in the republic of Trinidad and Tobago, plays an
energeticAblendAofA“IslandAMusic,”AinfluencedAbyAReggae,ATechno,AFunk,AHipAHopAandASoca.AUpstreamAincludesA
three sons of the venerable originator of Soca music, the late Ras Shorty I. The group has been the opener
for acts such as REM, Dave Matthews Band, The Wailers, Harvey Danger, Inner Circle, Wailing Souls and
Jimmy Buffett to name a few.
Shakespeare in the Park:
The Newport Beach City Arts Commission once again presents a weekend of lively Shakespearean
entertainment with two different productions performed by professional Shakespearean actors:
