Public Works Department. The construction of the Park is on schedule.

7. The Bayside Drive and Jamboree Road Beautification Project is nearing completion.
Staff has received several compliments from the public for the improvements at this

Tree Division Activities
During the month of September, 753 trees were trimmed, 29 trees removed (17 dead, 12
removals approved by PB &R Commission), 59 trees planted, and 4 emergency calls were
responded to regarding trees. The Urban Forester received 53 tree maintenance requests.
1. The City tree- trimming contractor, West Coast Arborists, completed work within the
Broadmoor Hills area. Work has begun in the Balboa Peninsula and Eastbluff areas and is
scheduled for completion late this winter. Additionally, annual tree trimming began on
City selected palm and coral trees throughout the City in anticipation of the winter
storms. This work is scheduled for completion by early winter.
2. The second microinjection of Imicide to control the Lerp Psyllid infestation was applied
• to approximately 300 Eucalyptus parkway street trees throughout the City. The first
application early this summer was extremely successful in controlling the Lerp
infestation and this second application will insure control of the insect into next spring.
The public has responded very favorably to the program.
3. The Urban Forester coordinated the Citywide Sidewalk Replacement Program with the
General Services Department Concrete Supervisor and the Public Works Inspector. This
involved the Urban Forester inspecting City street trees as related to sidewalk repairs.
4. The attached Tree Activity Report describes the work that has transpired during the past
few months.
