HomeMy WebLinkAbout05 - Irvine Terrace Park Encroachments - update on the disposition of the private encroachments made along the western boundry of Irvine Terrace Park(1) " '' PB &R Commission Agenda Item No. January 6, 2004 TO: Parks, Beaches and Recreation Commission FROM: General Services Director SUBJECT: Irvine Terrace Park Encroachments Recommendation None — Informational report only. Discussion At the December PB &R Commission meeting, Commissioner Skoro requested staff to is provide an update on the disposition of the private encroachments made along the western boundary of Irvine Terrace Park. A number of Malabar Drive residents adjacent to Irvine Terrace Park have developed, and in some cases, fenced in part of the City park property located in the ravine along the western Park boundary. In some cases, the property owners have acquired legal ownership, but several large and extensive encroachments continue without resolution. Last May, Parks Maintenance staff noticed one property owner on Malabar Drive encroached along the boundary with the installation of a new fence without City approval. The fence was subsequently removed after staff intervention. Staff from the Public Works and General Services Departments will perform a field survey in January to determine the legal boundaries, utility easements, right of ways, and level of encroachments into the Park. A report will be provided to the Commission in March with the results and possible recommendations. Very respectfully, David E.
