Staff recommends that the Parks, Reaches and Recreation Commission consider the
reforestation request at 1227 Sand Key within the I ]arbor View Hills South community.
Discussion
City Council Policy G -1. Reforestation of-City "frees requires that individual property owners
tieing within a legally established community association area with mandatory association
membership must petition for reforestation through their respective association.
Per City Council Policy G -1. the Harbor View Hills South }lomeovmers Association, Board
of Directors approved the removal of one City parkway tree.
Fhe property owner has complied with the requirements of Policy 6-1. The affected
property owner will submit the full cost For removal and replacement of the City tree,
approximate]} $970 (5775 for a 36° box replacement tree and 5195 for the removal).
However, the propem owner of 1227 Sand Key agrees to have the replacement tree planted
elsewhere at a location City staff deem appropriate.
Staff has attached a Tree Inspection Report. I ree Inventory Detail, and photographs related
to this request.

B. Residential communities, neighborhoods, or business organizations who apply
for reforestation must submit a petition signed by a minimum of BO ',, of the
property' owners within the area defined for reforestation. The petition content
must be approved and dated by (.it% staff prior to distribution by the petitioner.

community association area maa submit individual requests for single or
multiple tree reforestations_ the applicant must submit a petition signed by a
minimum of 60 ", of a maximum of 30 private properhy owners (tip to 15
contiguous private properties on both sides of the street up to 500' in either
direction from the location of the proposed reforestation site) as well as the
endorsement of the appropriate homeowners' association, if applicable. The

The existing City Carrotwood tree has caused significant damage and uplifted the
sidewalk. as a result of tree roots. The property owners evill pay for a suitable
replacement tree at a location the City deems appropriate.
