RE: Proposed Annual Update to Fees and Charges — Building and Planning
Department Flat Fee Schedule
Dear Mayor Dixon and Honorable Councilmembers:
The Building Industry Association of Southern California, Orange County
Chapter (BlA/OC) is a non-profit trade association of over 1,100 companies
employing over 100,000 people affiliated with the home building industry. The
Orange County Chapter represents the largest member base within BIA
Southern California. Our mission is to champion housing as the foundation of
vibrant and sustainable communities.
As a key stakeholder in Orange County, the BIA/OC has worked closely with
local jurisdictions to ensure a fair nexus between developer impact fees and the
actual cost of those services. With that in mind, we are grateful to see that the
City is considering a flat fee schedule for some building and planning services,
in comparison to the valuation and deposit account schedule currently in place.
Flat fee schedules create a greater level of certainty for the development
community, and can help ensure projects continue to be processed in a timely
and efficient manner.
As always, we remain a resource to the City on important issues that are related
to the well-being of our local communities.
